During a ministerial meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli stated his expectation that New Alamein will become a tourist destination among the likes of Alexandria, receiving holidaymakers throughout the year. He claimed that the city could become the second capital of Egypt.
Egypt’s Cabinet held its first meeting in the headquarters of the ministerial cabinet in New Alamein on Tuesday, discussing several city projects such as reconstruction of the beachfront, which will be open to the public.
Madbouli also discussed ways of attracting and reaping the benefits of investments in the city.
Madbouli noted that the government will launch the digital transformation system in August, which aims to improve online governmental services and ease administrative procedures.
The Cabinet also previewed the Ministry of Environment’s vision for and the other ministries’ roles in controlling sever air pollution this fall.
New Alamein accommodates 3 million people and contains commercial, tourist, and industrial areas in addition to universities and service buildings. The city was established by 100,000 engineers and workers.
