The New Cairo Prosecution, headed by Counselor Mohamed Salama, ordered on Friday the detention of the deputy head of the New Cairo City Authority and one businesswoman for four days pending investigation into bribery charges.
The Administrative Control Authority announced on Thursday the arrest of deputy head of New Cairo City Authority after receiving “gifts and money” as a bribe from the owner of an import and export company in return for implementing a decision requiring him to hand over three plots of land in the Fifth Settlement to the businesswoman.
The Administrative Control Authority said in a statement Thursday that the defendants were interrogated by the prosecutor.
Recent months have witnesses more bribery cases making the headlines, as the government struggles to fight corruption.
