
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) issued a statement on Thursday, announcing that banks operating in the Egyptian market will be opening free accounts for citizens with no minimum balance requirement until the end of April.
The statement mentioned that on the occasion of “Arab Financial Inclusion Day,” employees of banks operating in the Egyptian market will be present outside their branches to provide various services to citizens until the end of April, under the sponsorship and supervision of the CBE.
These services include:
- Opening accounts for citizens free of charge and without a minimum balance.
- Issuing prepaid cards.
- Issuing debit cards.
- Issuing the bank’s electronic wallet.
- Issuing internet and mobile banking services.
- Providing financial literacy and awareness activities.
Bank employees will be present in gathering places such as universities, clubs, youth centers, and more, as the CBE has strong partnerships to promote financial inclusion with numerous entities such as the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Council for Women.
