Work continued Wednesday on a neighborhood clean-up campaign dubbed "Change your Behavior" to improve the appearance of Cairo's Nozha area.
The campaign, launched on Sunday, sees local authorities working with residents, school students and NGOs to raise awareness of the need to maintain a clean environment.
Participants engaged in a range of activities, including landscaping, painting sidewalks and lamp posts, and sweeping the streets, said Khaled Gharib, the local-government head for Nozha, on Wednesday.
Posters and leaflets have been handed out to citizens, who welcomed the campaign as a way to keep the neighborhood clean, he said.
The campaign was implemented in Farid Semeika Street and will be gradually take effect in other areas, with Abdel Hamid Badawy and Ankara streets next on the list.
Street vendors will be transferred from the Sheraton area as part of the campaign due to many complaints from residents, Gharib added.
