NSF denounces attack on Brotherhood headquarters

The opposition National Salvation Front (NSF) has condemned the attack on the Muslim Brotherhood Guidance Bureau, after the headquarters building in Moqattam was set alight and looted early on Monday morning.

The NSF also fully condemned the violence that erupted in some Egyptian governorates on Sunday, after peaceful protests in Assiut and Beni Suef left demonstrators killed and injured.

A statement issued by the front on Monday called on security forces to identify perpetrators of the violence and bring them to immediate trial.

The Freedom and Justice Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, and Islamist leaders accuse the NSF of providing a “political cover” for violence.

Angry protesters attacked the Guidance Bureau on Monday morning following clashes between protesters and Brotherhood supporters in which eight people were killed.

The clashes that broke out on 30 June in several governorates led to the deaths of 16 people.

The NSF called on Egyptians who poured into the streets in peaceful protests to demand presidential elections to keep their demonstrations peaceful but to remain in the streets until their demands are met.
