Yehia al-Shazly, member of the National Committee for the Fight Against Liver Viruses, said “rate of recovery of patients cured by [hepatitis C drug] Sovaldi has reached more than 95 percent.”
During a phone call with talk show aired on privately-owned channel Mehwar on Wednesday, Shazly said that “Health Ministry is committed to the treatment of more than 300,000 hepatitis C patients per year.”
The cure rate for patients using Harvoni is higher than that of Sovaldi, he said adding it will offered in Egypt soon.
Shazly also pointed to 21 new drugs on the market that cure hepatitis C, adding that cure rates for all of them are similar.
