The Borg El-Arab Petroleum Company (BORAPETCO) has drilled 7,000 barrels of crude oil per day and 10,000 million cubic feet of gas per day, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth said on Thursday.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth Tariq al-Mulla had received a report from BORAPETCO’s Chairman Ahmed Anwar concerning drilling operations in the Western Desert, which are carried out on behalf of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and Kuwait Energy.
Several oil and gas wells can be found far underneath the Western Desert, the ministry added, noting that the sites are set to be explored using modern technologies.
Egypt’s average production of crude oil and condensates currently stands at about 630,000 barrels per day. The target for this figure is around 690,000 barrels per day for the end of the fiscal year 2019-2020.
