Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement visits Cairo

A delegation of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening, while a Egyptian security delegation headed to the Gaza Strip to discuss the security situation and coordinate on securing the Palestinian-Egyptian border.

Spokesman and leader of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Daoud Shihab, said the delegation comprised of the movement’s secretary-general, Ramadan Shalah, and his deputy, Ziad al-Nakhla.

Shihab added in a statement to Al-Masry Al-Youm that the visit aims to consult on means of enhancing security on the border and discuss the internal Palestinian dispute.
He pointed out that Egypt is concerned about the deterioration of the security situation in Gaza, and wants the movement to intervene before any crisis affecting Egyptian national security in Sinai occurs.
