Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb stressed that the African Union lost a lot after freezing Egypt’s membership in the wake of 30 June revolution.
In remarks aired during a talk show on privately-owned satellite Mehwar TV channel on Tuesday, Mehleb said, “once president is elected, we will return back immediately to the African Union. Egypt will be hosting the June summit.”
“A long time has passed. The country cannot bear the loss of more time. We should work to achieve progress,” he added.
“The Cabinet is considering subsidies for the needy. There is a package of economic social decisions,” he added.
Regarding presidential elections, Mehleb said the government is not biased toward any candidate. “We want free elections and an incident to be witnessed by the world so we can say this is the people’s will.”
