PM asserts Egypt’s keenness on boosting bilateral ties with Italy

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly asserted Egypt’s keenness on enhancing bilateral ties with Italy in the different domains.

During his meeting with Italian Ambassador to Egypt Michele Quaroni, in presence of Head of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) Alaa Ezz, Madbouli lauded the progress made in the Egyptian-Italian relations, especially in light of Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani’s visit to Egypt in March, leading a delegation, including governmental officials and 30 representatives of private sector companies, banks, financial institutions and regional organizations.

Quaroni said that the visit of the Italian delegation to Egypt in March helped the Italian companies to get acquainted with the investment opportunities in Egypt, Spokesman for the Cabinet Ambassador Nader Saad said.

The Italian diplomat added that one of the Italian companies operating in the agricultural field has an investment plan in Egypt, underlining that the first phase of the investment plan includes cultivating nearly 10,000 feddans of strategic crops that Egypt needs and will also contribute to bridging the import gap and achieving food security.

Madbouli said that the Egyptian government welcomes the Italian investments in the agricultural domain.

These investments come at a very important time, in light of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s strategy to increase the agricultural area to achieve food security for all Egyptians, he added.
