PM Essam Sharaf submits report on govt response to sectarian violence

Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf on Monday submitted a detailed report on recent sectarian violence in Imbaba for the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to review.

The report highlights procedures taken by the government to halt thuggery and attempts at igniting sectarian strife, according to Ahmed al-Semman, Sharaf's media adviser.

Semman said the report describes action taken by the Interior Ministry to secure places of worship across the country as well as plans to deploy police personnel.

He told reporters that Sharaf's report also includes descriptions of Health Ministry procedures for treating victims and disbursing compensation for those killed or injured.
