Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb said that public servants will not take the two days of the presidential elections off, yet urged them to cast their votes.
The elections are slated for 26 and 27 May.
Mehleb also said after a Cabinet meeting on Thursday that the government is developing a plan to improve the economy and fight poverty. “There are villages in Beni Suef with a 97 percent poverty rate,” he said.
He said the new system for the distribution of subsidized bread in Suez has proven successful and reduced prices by 13 percent. “The system saved 30 percent of the flour supply,” he said. “This is part of the social protection network.”
