Prime Minister Essam Sharaf is due to visit the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain on Monday. The visit was postponed once before due to the conflicting time schedules of officials, and once again due to sectarian violence in Cairo.
Sources said the visit is a continuation of an earlier tour in the Gulf, which started with Sharaf visiting Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait.
They also said the Emirates is the third foreign investor in Egypt after Britain and Saudi Arabia.
A cabinet source said the visit aims at securing economic aid to help offset the state budget deficit, and discuss certain obstacles faced by UAE companies investing in Egypt, such as Al-Futtaim and Damac.
