Egyptian police kill 6 terrorists in 6th of October city

Police forces on Tuesday killed six terrorists in a shootout after police raided their hotbed in 6th of October city, stated the Minister of Interior.

The ministry added that the terrorists were members of the Muslim Brotherhood group, planning to carry out terrorist operations against churches, police and military officers, and state installations.

The ministry said these terrorist attacks aim to increase chaos and panic among people.

In May 2019, police killed 12 terrorists in 6th of October City, Giza, al-Shorouk city, and Cairo as they were planning to carry out hostile attacks aimed at destabilizing the country.

In a statement on Sunday, the Interior Ministry said that seven members of Hasm terrorist group, affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, have been killed in a raid in Sixth of October City.

Since 2014, Egypt has witnessed a growing number of terrorist attacks carried out by IS in the Sinai Province, including various attacks against the army and the police. The increase in terrorism followed the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi. Morsi’s party was affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, which Egypt subsequently banned as a terrorist group.
