An official security source said that two unidentified men on a motorcycle threw two IEDs at a Central Security camp on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, leaving a police officer injured and the glass exterior of the camp damaged.
The source added that police are now searching for the assailants.
Attacks against police and army personnel have dramatically increased since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsy in July 2013.
Earlier this week, a senior official at the Ministry of Interior was gunned down in front of his house in the Haram neighborhood.
