Political powers to come up with suggestions for constitutional committee

The ruling military council has tasked political powers to come up with suggestions for forming the constitutional committee, informed sources have said.

The council proposed that presidential candidates Amr Moussa and Selim al-Awa serve as liaison between the military and the advisory councils, but they declined the offer.

In their meeting with the military council on Wednesday, political forces demanded guarantees that the military carry out recommendations of the advisory council.

“Should the advisory council feel it is not effective, it can always withdraw,” said Sami Anan, vice president of the military council.

A source attending the meeting explained that recommendations made the advisory council would need to have a majority vote before they are submitted, thereby reflecting the wishes of the largest spectrum of political forces.

The advisory council would consist of 50 figures of different political orientations.
