Prime Minister inspects final arrangements of Men’s Handball Championship prep at Cairo Stadium

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly alongside Minster of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy and the President of the International Handball Federation Hassan Mostafa inspected all final preparations at the Cairo International Stadium to host the Men’s Handball World Championship on January 13-31.

Madbouly was briefed on the final stages of the hall complex’s development, where he praised the excellent work being done which has proven Egypt’s readiness to host the event.

He added that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi assigned the government to provide all necessary arrangements for the tournament regarding its infrastructure and organization, alongside all coronavirus precautionary measures.

Madbouly stressed the importance of effective coordination regarding these measures in order to preserve the safety of all participants.

Sobhy said that the main hall will host the matches of the Egyptian national team within the tournament at a capacity of 16,200 fans.

Development work involved improving the efficiency of all floors, lighting, walls and ceilings. The press conference hall and press center have been renovated, with faster internet services to help journalists and media professionals covering the matches.

Egypt will officially host the 27th Men’s World Handball Championship in 2021.

President of the International Handball Federation (IHF) Hassan Mostafa and President of the Egyptian Handball Federation (EHF) Hesham Nasr signed on October 2019 the official document to host the Championship in the presence of Egyptian Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy.

“The participation of 32 teams instead of 24 for the first time in the 2021 World Handball Championship is a clear challenge that obliges all of us to work in full swing in order to make the tournament a success,” Sobhy told reporters.
