Prime Minister Madbouly announces the return of Egyptian workers to Libya

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced the signing of an MoU between Egypt and Libya to facilitate the return of Egyptian workers to Libya.

The news came during joint press conference with Madbouly and his Libyan counterpart Abdel Hamid Dabaiba in Tripoli on Tuesday, following a meeting in which they both discussed housing, transportation, health, and manpower projects.

Madbouly said that workers will be able to work in the fields specified and requested by Libya.

“Before 2011, there were millions of Egyptians working in the Libyan territories, in addition to the intermarriage relations that extended over the course of historical periods, and we are now working to bring these relations back to the height of their maturity,” Madbouly added.

He stressed Egypt’s full support for all measures and steps taken by the new Libyan government to achieve development, highlighting in this regard the joint cooperation agreements signed by the two sides on Tuesday at the end of the meeting.

Madbouly also indicated Egypt’s full readiness and eagerness to share with Libya its knowledge and experience in the area of development that it has gained throughout the past six years.

Madbouly also noted an agreement between the two countries to cooperate in a number of fields, most notably electricity, energy, information technology, and infrastructure.
