Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Tallal, who is the nephew of Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz, pledged allegiance to Crown Prince Mohamed bin Nayef and Deputy Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman.
“I pledge allegiance to my brother Prince Mohamed bin Nayef, the crown prince, and my brother Prince Mohamed bin Salman, the deputy crown prince, to serve the religion then the king and country,” he said on Twitter.
Al-Walid’s father Prince Talal bin Abdel Aziz commented on the shift in power saying there should be no allegiance to whoever violates the Islamic Sharia.
“I repeat that no obedience for anyone who takes over such senior positions violating the Sharia principles, texts and the country’s systems that we swore to obey,” the father posted on Twitter on Wednesday.
