Menoufia security services arrested on Thursday Muslim Brotherhood figure Mohamed Ali Beshr, former governor and local development minister, at his house in Shebin al-Koum.
A security source from the governorate’s security department said troops arrested Beshr over charges of inciting violence and protests against the government as well as joining an illegal group.
The arrest takes place before the 28 November protests called for by Islamist movements.
