By the end of next week, the public prosecutor will begin investigating allegations that former Agriculture Minister Amin Abaza, facillitated the acquisition of public land.
Abaza is accused of facilitating the acquisition of vast tracts of lands allocated for new graduates and selling them at prices lower than their real value to his friends, the public prosecutor said in a statement.
The prosecution will interrogate senior officials, former ministers, businessmen, and members of parliament and their families, grandchildren and relatives who acquired these tracts of lands.
The public prosecutor pointed out that Abaza violated the law by ordering the allocation of government lands to his friends.
A judicial source stressed that the land deals cost the state large sums of money and were detrimental to many young, poor graduates.
