Prosecutor General Nabil Sadek summoned five governmental officials to hear their sayings over the flooding crisis following the heavy rains which hit New Cairo city over the past few days.
The officials’ list included deputy head of New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) for City Development Sector Abdel Motelab Mamdouh, Head of New Cairo City Apparatuses Mostafa Fahmy, Chairman of Greater Cairo Sanitary Drainage Water (GCSDW) Mansour Badawi, as well as heads of legal sector at the Holding Company for Water and Waste Water and the NUCA.
Sadek formed technical committee including professors from faculties of engineering and urban planning of Cairo University and the Accountability State Authority (ASA) to conduct technical inspection on the sanitary system in the affected areas and check the budget of the system’s maintenance and development.
Meanwhile, judicial sources said that the Public Funds Prosecution received investigations results from the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) and the Public Funds Crime’s Investigation Police, proving responsibility of officials of New Cairo City Apparatuses, GCSDW, Ministry of Housing and North Cairo Electricity Company over the crisis.
Members of Parliament launched an attack on the government in its Thursday’s session for failing to combat the problems with drainage of rain water over the past few days, requesting the launch of an investigation with the responsible officials for the drainage and sewage systems.
