Dozens of residents of a Beheira Governorate village blocked the agricultural highway Tuesday evening to protest a three-day-long power outage in their village.
Residents of Kafr al-Ais village, located in the Koum Hamada district, accused electricity company officials of deliberately cutting off power after residents demonstrated last Saturday to reject the connection of a potato cooler, which consumes a lot of energy, to the main electrical converter in the village. The residents said the cooler affected the electrical current.
"Electricity has been cut off almost entirely in the village since last Saturday,” Ahmed Saeed, one of the protesters, told Al-Masry Al-Youm. “Residents go to bed in the dark. Moreover, the repeated outages and returns of power affect the electrical appliances in homes."
