Protesters march demanding re-investigation of journalist Mayada Ashraf’s death

The Husseini Abu Deif Committee defending journalism held a march from the Journalists Syndicate to the Court of Cassation to submit a request to the prosecutor general to reopen investigations into the cause of the death of journalist Mayada Ashraf.

The committee is also filing a complaint accusing the police of killing her.

Before moving to the court, the marchers held a vigil on the staircase of the syndicate with Ashraf’s father, who said her friend Ahlam Hassanein had testified that his daughter was shot in the back from where the police were standing.

“I demand the President and the Prime Minister to order an exceptional pension for my daughter because she died when she was on duty,” he said.
