TV presenter, Radwa al-Sherbiny, has been referred to interrogation over a tweet where she described men as lambs, the cbc channel group announced.
Sherbiny presents the “Heya We Bas” (Only Her) program on cbc Sofra channel.
“The management of the cbc channels announces that the presenter, Radwa al-Sherbiny, has been referred to investigation, because of the post that she published on her personal page, which affects the image of the institution, although it was not broadcast or published on any of the channels’ platforms,” cbc channel said in a statement.
“I don’t understand why ladies don’t like to eat lamb, but they like to get into a relationship with it,” Sherbiny wrote on Twitter.
Sherbiny is no stranger to controversy.
Back in 2020, the complaints committee of Egypt’s Supreme Council for Media Regulation opened an urgent investigation concerning TV host Radwa al-Sherbiny’s comments on her show about non-veiled women.
Complaints received by the council allege that Sherbiny stated on her show that women who wear the hijab are 100,000 times better than those who do not.
During the disputed episode of the show, Sherbiny, who does not wear a hijab, surprised the audience with a message to everyone who wants to take off their hijab. She urged them to never take it off, even if they are the only one in their family, workplace, or friend group who wears it.
