The “Ramses the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs” exhibition officially opened to visitors at the Australian Museum in Sydney on Saturday.
The exhibition began its journey outside Egypt with its first stop in November 2021 in Houston, then in August 2022 in San Francisco, USA, then its third stop in April 2023 in the French capital, Paris.
Now in Australia for the very first time, the exhibit will showcase 182 exquisite antiquities direct from the pyramids and museums of Egypt, together with their extraordinary stories.
The opening ceremony was held on Friday evening and witnessed by the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri, Minister for Roads, Minister for the Arts, Minister for Music and the Night-time Economy of Australia, John Graham, and Director of the Australian Museum Kim McKay, Ambassador Mohamed Khairy, and Consul General of Egypt in Sydney, along with official participating delegation from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The ceremony was also held in presence of more than 500 invitees, including senior public and governmental figures, members of the museum’s Board of Trustees, archaeologists, tourism specialists in Australia, the dean of the Egyptian community in Australia, alongside a number of influencers, bloggers, and Australian celebrities.
