Official sources have revealed a deal made between senior officials and leaders from the Transportation Ministry to divert the path of the regional ring road project, thereby favoring a famous businessman who owns land and resorts on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road.
In remarks to Al-Masry Al-Youm, sources said that the businessman requested that the road pass by the borders of his land in order to raise the value of his resorts.
The ministry, according to the sources, agreed to divert the road. All maps related to the project will be altered accordingly. The road will link Sadat city to the rest of the governorates.
Sadat city Mayor Mohamed Ashour Abdel Rahman, when asked about the ring road's new route, said, “I don’t have confirmed information about the secret behind the diversion of the road.”
