Sail boat carrying 23 Egyptians sinks off Sudan

Sources from al-Ateka seaport have confirmed the sinking of a sail boat off Sudan containing between 20-23 fishermen.

Sources said that the Sudanese navy found two children who survived. Efforts are ongoing to find the other passengers.

The boat left Baranees seaport in the Red Sea province 10 days ago, heading towards international waters, the sources added.

The sources said the reason behind the sinking is likely that the boat hit a coral reef. The fishermen are from Ezbet al-Borg in Damietta and Daqahliya.
