Salafi Dawa leaders resign to protest dismissal of members

According to a number of Salafi Dawa sources, several movement leaders in Matruh and Giza governorates have resigned to protest against the dismissal of Ali Ghallab, the Salafi Dawa leader from Matruh and Saeed Abdel Azim, the organization's deputy head from Giza.

According to the sources, many Salafi Dawa members have been dismissed for not attending the organization's meetings. The sources added the dismissed members could not attend meetings because they were wanted by the police and could not appear publicly.

Many other Salafi Dawa leaders have resigned after being accused of cooperating with security authorities, the sources said adding that the crisis within the Salafi Dawa is likely to have a negative impact on the performance of the Nour Party during the parliamentary elections.

The dismissed members were absent during three consecutive general assembly meetings, the Salafi Dawa announced in a statement on Wednesday.

The Muslim Brotherhood has recently accused Salafi Dawa leaders of cooperating with the security apparatus, defending the organization's dismissed leader, Abdel Azim.
