A new report has confirmed that Egyptian international and Liverpool FC striker Mohamed Salah, is now the fifth highest paid football player in the world.
Salah, 30, signed a new 3-year contract with Liverpool FC during the summer, until 2025.
Liverpool Echo reported that Salah’s weekly salary, according to the new contract, has now exceeded 350,000 sterling pounds, making the annual salary of the Egyptian star with Liverpool at 18 million sterling pounds – the highest in the club’s history.
Salah also has income other than his salary with Liverpool, through his revenues from his commercial contracts with a group of major international companies, such as Vodafone, Adidas, Pepsi, Uber and the electronics company Oppo.
According to a study conducted by the American sports business website Sportico, to rank the highest-paid football players in world by combining their weekly salaries with their income from advertising campaigns, Salah is now ranked fifth with an annual income of $39.5 million.
French striker Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain tops the list of the highest paid footballers in the world, with a total annual profit of $125 million.
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo ranks second, with a total profit of $113 million, followed by his Argentine rival, Lionel Messi, the star of Paris Saint-Germain, with a total annual profit of $110 million, and then the other Paris Saint-Germain star, the Brazilian Neymar, comes in fourth place with annual profits of $91 million.
