Hany Metwally of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce said in a press statement on Sunday that there is a strong demand for household heaters due to the cold snap over the past few days.
“Sales rose by more than 10 percent compared to the same period last year,” he explained, adding that prices have also gone up by 15 percent due to the foreign currency shortage.
Metwally said that 70 percent of the market is covered by local production and 30 percent by imports, particularly from China and South Korea.
