Mohamed Salmawy, spokesperson for the Committee of 50, has denied any amendments to the transitional article on the right of the president to appoint the defense minister with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces for a period of two terms.
“We did not add any mechanisms to it for dismissing the minister,” Salmawy said in a press statement on Saturday, adding that the Drafting Committee suggested the approval of the armed forces as regards the appointment or dismissal of the minister but the committee left the article unchanged.
