Saudi authorities announce execution of Egyptian expat over murder of Kuwaiti

The Saudi Interior Ministry announced on Sunday that it has executed an Egyptian citizen convicted for killing a Kuwaiti national, according to a ministry statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The ministry said in its statement, on Sunday evening: “Ahmed Mohamed Kamel Dagher, an Egyptian national, killed Matar Mazban Falah al-Zahameel, a Kuwaiti, by hitting him on the head with a hammer, which led to his death, due to a dispute between them.”

“Authorities were able to arrest the perpetrator, and the investigation resulted in him being charged with committing the crime,” the Saudi Interior Ministry added.

“By referring him to the competent court, a ruling was issued against him stating that he was found guilty of what was attributed to him, and he was sentenced to death. The ruling was upheld by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, and a royal order was issued to implement what was decided.”

“The death sentence was executed on Sunday 08/27/2023, in the Sharqiyyah region,” the statement added.
