Schoolgirl dies in Sharqiya

Heidi Ahmed Thabet, a 4-year-old kindergarten girl, died in the Nasagoun School in Sharqiya when the iron gate of the school fell on her while she was entering with her schoolmates.
The heavy gate fell on the young girl when the doorman pushed it forcefully to open it.
Sami Abdel Aziz, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, referred the administration and the porter to investigation.
The parents hurried to the school to take their children out.
Egypt's crumbling public schools suffer from systematic under-funding and neglect, yet seem to have fallen off the radar of social discourse.
