Scorching heat wave across Egypt to end on the weekend: EMA

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said that the heatwave will continue across most of the country until Thursday, May 23.

It is expected that the heat wave in Egypt will end by the end of this week.

Meteorologists expect a slight drop in temperatures north of the country up to Greater Cairo, with values ranging from three to four degrees by Friday, May 24 with active winds in most parts.

 

Tuesday’s weather

The EMA added in a statement that Tuesday is expected to witness very hot weather the day in most parts, hot on the northern coasts, moderate at night on the northern coasts, and moderately hot in the rest of the country.

Active winds are expected in areas of the northeastern coasts and southern parts of the country, occasionally blowing sand and dust in South Sinai.

The weather on Wednesday and Thursday will see more wind activity in areas of Greater Cairo, South Sinai and south of the country, the EMA added.

 

Expected temperatures on Tuesday:

  • Alexandria: 32C
  • Cairo: 38C
  • Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada: 40C
  • Luxor: 44C
  • Aswan: 45C
