Ashraf Hatem, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU), said the Pharmacists' Syndicate has requested to gradually reduce the number of students admitted to the faculties of pharmacy by 20 percent.
Hatem said the council asked the Health Ministry and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics for data about the number of pharmacists and the areas that need to have faculties of pharmacy before making a decision in this regard.
He said two new faculties were established at the universities of Fayoum and South Valley but were not opened yet. “If we accept students there, it will be to alleviate the density in other faculties,” he said.
