Second edition for Conference of Egyptian expat entities set for August

The Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs has begun preparations for the second edition of the Conference of Egyptian entities abroad, set to be held on August.

Assistant Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Mazen Fahmy met on Saturday with representatives of the ministries and agencies involved in coordinating the conference, discussing what services can be provided for expatriates.

The current political leadership is well aware of the importance expatriates hold towards sustainable development, Fahmy said, and is interested in seeking their help.

It is the ministry’s responsibility to integrate Egyptians abroad within the state’s development plans and to provide avenues for them, he added.

Fahmy noted that representatives from ministries and state institutions will participate in the conference, responding to inquiries and receiving proposals from expatriates.

Sporting events will also be organized on the conference’s sidelines, he said. A cup for Egyptian communities abroad will be launched including futsal matches and an electronic games competition, which the ministry hopes will connect Egyptians abroad to each other and their motherland.

Representatives of governmental institutions participating in the meeting expressed their eagerness to answer any inquiries regarding Egyptian expatriates, discuss ways to overcome obstacles they face, obtain official papers and involve expatriates in investing across Egypt.

The meeting on Saturday also discussed discounts offered by the Tourism and Antiquities ministry to expatriates for tourist and archaeological sites, alongside tourist programs and other offers.
