Security plan in place for new school year

Cairo's Security Department has put in place a plan to secure schools on the first day of the 2011/2012academic year.

It focuses on removing street vendors and preventing possible thuggery.
 
Mahmoud Aly, deputy security chief for Cairo, said a multi-level plan will protect students: each school will have five security personnel equipped with a car, with a focus on school's in Zamalek and Maadi.
 
Police patrols will each be responsible for two schools, and the Criminal Research Department will also position policemen near schools to prevent harassment.
 
Police patrols should have a plan ambulance access, with particular focus on girls-only and mixed schools.
 
He added that traffic police have been deployed in larger numbers in very busy areas and civil defense and fire fighters have all been made ready for the new school year.
