Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim on Thursday met with his aides to develop a plan to secure Egyptian streets during the Eid al-Fitr vacation.
Ibrahim ordered an intensified security presence to fight all possible forms of crimes within the rule of law and with respect to human rights, especially in Tahrir Square, outside the Ittihadiya presidential palace, and around mosques, malls, cinemas, and public parks.
He has put all police departments on alert to be prepared to receive emergency calls from citizens, and has cancelled all vacations for police personnel.
He has also asked the Supply Police to inspect markets and shops that provide consumer services to citizens.
