Security sources said a fire was reported at the Monastery of the Syrians in Wadi al-Natroun on Friday. However, they found no signs of a fire upon arriving at the site.
Experts from the criminal laboratory said they found the monastery's garage door torn off and some damage to the car that the Pope uses when at the monastery.
The public prosecution was notified of the incident and inspected the garage. They concluded that leakage from the car may have caused the damage.
Security sources denied news that they found a dismantled bomb. They also said the monastery's security staff did not report any explosions.
