Abeer Al-Saady, a member of the Journalists Syndicate board, announced the list of journalists arrested and injured in the clashes that took place on Saturday, the third anniversary of the 25 January revolution.
She noted that all journalists arrested that day have been released except for Sada al-Balag news reporter Abdel Khaliq Salah in Qasr al-Nil police station. Salah has not been released like other journalists because security agencies are convinced that he reports for Al Jazeerah, despite the fact that the editor-in-chief of Sada al-Balad had testified that he works for the website.
Other arrested journalists including Al-Badil photographer Ahmed al-Houssainy in Hadayeq al-Qobba and Khaled Kamel in downtown Cairo.
Four injured journalists, including Hossam Bakir who was shot, are currently recovering in Mounira Hospital. Abdallah Aboul Gheit, from Al-Badil, suffered birdshot wounds and is now in the 6th of October Hospital.
The third injured is Mohamed Fawzy, from Al-Wafd newspaper, who is now undergoing a jaw surgery in Ain Shams Private Hospital after being shot while covering clashes in Alf Maskan area of Cairo.
Photographer Mahmoud Khaled was shot with birdshot in the foot in Mostafa Mahmoud Square.
Other journalists arrested by the police are: Tareq Wagih (Al-Masry Al-Youm photographer), Amr Salah Eddin (Xinhua News Agency photographer), and Walaa Wahid (Al-Wafd reporter in Ismailia). Wahid was assaulted by residents in Ismailia who believed that she worked for the Qatari-based Al Jazeerah network.
Journalist Yasser Selim also reported seeing a photojournalist being captured by citizens in downtown Cairo and handed over to the police, but his identity is still unknown. The syndicate is currently investigating this issue.
