A member of the Media Center of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), Manar Ghanem on Monday announced that Egypt will witness a severe heat wave starting from Tuesday.
During a phone interview with TV host Amr Adib on the “al-Hekaya” (The Story) show on MBC Masr channel, Ghanem explained that temperatures in Greater Cairo on Tuesday will be 38C.
She noted that the peak of this heat wave will be from Thursday to Saturday – the Day of Arafah before Eid al-Adha.
The maximum temperatures in Greater Cairo on Saturday will reach 43C in the shade, and in Upper Egypt it will reach 48C in the shade.
She said that temperatures will drop by Sunday (the first day of Eid al-Adha), from about four to five degrees.
Ghanem advised against direct exposure to the sun’s rays, especially from 12 pm to five pm, and urged citizens to keep well-hydrated.
