A woman has filed a complaint with the attorney general in which she accused police in the village of Deirab Nigm in Sharqiya of detaining and torturing her for three days.
She alleged that police officers threatened to rape her if she did not confess to charges that her brother had killed a man for having had an affair with her.
"I had no affair with the man, he was just a friend," said 19-year-old Ala Shehata. "I was surprised to find myself summoned by police, because the man was killed two days after I last saw him."
"They accused my brother of killing him," she added. "And so they arrested him and tortured him, too."
