Informed sources in the presidency said Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Sidqy Sobhy would be sworn in as defense minister in front of interim president Adly Mansour Thursday.
Former Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has officially resigned in the morning after he announced his presidential bid Wednesday.
Mansour headed a meeting for the SCAF Wednesday after which he issued a presidential decree promoting Sobhy as colonel general.
