Sports scientist Simon Brundish published a new statistic that refutes recent criticism against the Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah, who is the top scorer in the Premier League.
Salah had been criticized for not making enough effort to put pressure on opponents in the last third of the field, which is not true according to the statistic published by Brundish.
Brundish confirmed that Salah outperformed all European attackers in that particular part, as he pressed opponents a total of 186 times. That number was tied just one other player – Wout Weghorst, Germany’s Wolfsburg striker.
Brundish commented on the statistic on his Twitter account, sarcastically saying: “Lazy Mo with the most attacking 3rd pressures in the whole of Europe.”

Salah is top scorer in the Premier League with 17 goals. He also reached his 24th goal this season with Liverpool, after leading the team to victory over Leipzig in the first leg of the 16th round of the Champions League this week with two clean goals.
