Since 2014, Egypt’s army implements 418 development projects in Sinai at cost of LE486 billion

The Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces bore the costs of 418 projects in the Sinai Peninsula in various fields, at a total cost of LE486 billion since June 30, 2014, the head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, Ehab al-Far announced.

He explained that 276 projects have been implemented at a cost of LE198 billion, with 110 projects being implemented at a cost of LE206 billion and 32 projects planned at a cost of LE82 billion.

Far added during a speech at the opening of a number of national projects in Sinai, in the presence of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, that 35 roads have been completed at a total length of 1,185 km, to facilitate movement within the governorate.

The authority also took into account the priorities in planning and implementing roads, the most important of which is linking residential, agricultural, industrial and tourist clusters very quickly, Far said.

He said that 16 roads are being implemented at a total length of 375 km, and are nearly complete.

The implementation rate in Rafah and Arish is 95 percent, he said, adding that most of these roads may be completed next month, Far added.

The authority plans to implement 13 roads at a total length of 1,880 km, including 1,615 km to serve lands planned to be cultivated in North and central Sinai.
