Singer objects to Syndicate’s decision on ‘indecent’ clothing

Singer Nesma Mahgoub, a star on the 9th season of the pop talent show Star Academy, objected to the interference of the head of the Singers' Syndicate over the clothing of female singers on the show.

The syndicate leader should be able to preserve the reputation of the Singers' Syndicate without interfering with the clothes of female singers, she said.

Mahgoub's statement came in response to the syndicate head Hani Shaker's decision to ban singers from wearing indecent clothes on stage.

"I wear respectable clothes that fit the ethics of the Arab community where I grew up," said Mahgoub.

"But who is going to decide whether the clothes are decent or not?" she asked, pointing out that everyone has their own perspective and view regarding what is deemed appropriate and inappropriate.

According to Mahgoub, the decision will cause big problems.
