President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met on Wednesday with Matruh governor Alaa Abu Zeid to discuss a number of development projects from the government.
Alaa Youssef, the official spokesperson for the presidency, said that the Matruh governor presented the western Egypt development project to Sisi.
The governor explained that the project will include the establishment of a global economic and tourism center, urban complexes, hospitals, industrial and logistic area, and a commercial port in the Jerjoub area of Najeelah, 75 kilometers west to Matruh.
The project will provide hundreds of thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities for young people.
The president praised the project and asked to complete the operational studies of the project in preparation for its implementation, Youssef added.
Sisi stressed the need to follow the highest and latest standards while implementing the project, and to continue efforts to develop the remote poor areas, Youssef said.
