
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discussed the development of relations between Cairo and Beijing with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Sisi further underscored Egypt’s interest in continuing its coordination with China regarding debt swap initiatives and efficiently implementing related agreements.
The meeting, attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and several ministers and senior officials, saw the Chinese official praise the rapid development in bilateral ties and the close coordination between both countries regionally and internationally, according to Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy.
The spokesperson added that Li views Egypt as a pillar of stability in the Middle East,
President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s desire to enhance cooperation with China across various fields and to implement the comprehensive strategic partnership between both nations, especially as they approach the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.
The official spokesperson added that the President lauded the contributions of Chinese companies to development projects in Egypt, expressing the country’s aim to attract more Chinese investments, particularly in the new and renewable energy sectors and the electric vehicle industry.
He also emphasized boosting Chinese tourism and strengthening cooperation in manufacturing and development in general.
Shennawy added that President al-Sisi reiterated his appreciation for the Chinese companies’ role in Egypt’s development projects.
He conveyed Egypt’s ambition to draw further Chinese investments, specifically into renewable energy, electric vehicle manufacturing, and to invigorate Chinese tourism.
He also stressed the importance of bolstering manufacturing and overall development cooperation.
The official spokesperson mentioned that the meeting included an exchange of views on regional and international developments.
These included stressing the importance of stabilizing the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran and resuming the diplomatic path to resolve the crisis peacefully. They also affirmed the necessity of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring urgent humanitarian aid delivery, and the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
