Sisi grants table tennis star Hana Goda ‘Sports Medal of First Degree’

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi granted Egyptian teen table tennis star Hana Goda the Sports Medal of the First Degree, Goda announced on her official Facebook page.

Goda won the best Arab junior award for 2022 at the celebration of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women Sports Award, in the presence of Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who honored the winners.

Egyptian Tennis duo Goda and Alaa Yahya won the gold medal in the African Table Tennis Championships in the women’s doubles competition, held in Algeria.

The duo beat fellow Egyptian doubles Maryam al-Hodeibi and Yousra Helmy 4-0 in the final of the African Women’s doubles table tennis championships.

Egypt thus won the gold medal through Goda and Yehya, and silver medal for the women’s double, through  Hodeibi and Helmy.

Egypt also won the gold of the men’s and women’s teams, as well as the gold of double mixed through Mohamed al-Baili and Goda.

 

Topping world rankings at only 14

Goda, 14, topped the world rankings for women under 19 years old of the International Table Tennis Federation.

Goda, who is Al-Ahly Club’s and the Egyptian national team table tennis player, topped the world rankings for women under 15 years of age for the first time in January 2021, an unprecedented achievement by any Egyptian table tennis player.

She also advanced to the 12th place in the world rankings U-17, and the 21st place in the world rankings U-21.

Goda began playing table tennis at the age of four, and recently won the Table Tennis International Championship in the U-12 and U-15 competitions in Portugal, and the bronze medal in the Intercontinental World Championship, in an unprecedented achievement in the history of table tennis in Egypt.
